How do you disable it or turn it off?
if you mean status:online that is in postbit, you can delete the code from postbit template...

ACP------Board Settings--------Forum Home options. Also Forum Display Options to disable the who is online in forum display.
OR you can do by group
ACP------>Users/Groups------Manage Groups.
Can then pick which group you want to see and not to see the who is online.

Yes this is what I mean. Is there not an option to disable/able in the Admin CP?
If not, where is the postbit template?
There is no setting for that
admin cp --> templates -->Edit --> Your theme --> postbit templates --> postbit
copy paste the codes here...

My bad,
I thought I had to do it manually.
go to your admin cp and click the edit / delete in templates table. then choose your themes template. finally find the postbit templates and open postbit...
Ok I got rid of the online/ offline thing now how I remove the "status:" text
