OK! I am going to set up a forum but I want a home page as well. I can do HTML (VERY basic unless someone can help me) explaining how to use the forums and maybe have a CV page (it's an acting forum) where people can put their CVs (with perhaps a search box) (I cannot do any of this except how to use the forums) but, main question below:

Do I put the HTML in the public_html directory inside a php script file?

It really depends what type of "home page" you want. If it's just a static HTML page, then you'd make it and upload it into your public_html folder.
