Is there a way to skip certain forums from a search by default? For example, I want users to search all forums except those under a category called News and Announcements.

There is no way to do this by default and I don't believe there is a plugin for this either.

Wish I could be more help but don't know what to tell you.

You can turn off search only for groups but not by fid. Maybe I will make that a plugin...should be simple and would certainly be useful.
