Hey,

I'm looking to use the Portal feature.

How would I go about getting a shoutbox included above the announcements?

How could I add some links to a box in the left hand side?

If these links were something related to my site how would I add content to pages and if a link is clicked from that box (that is to be made with links in on the left side - described above) how would I make it appear in the middle column?

Last thing, which file is it to edit out the breadcrumb coding?

I think you need to get plugins for the shoutbox.

As for the Breadcrums i think you need to go in the Board settings in the Admin CP go to Server and Optimization Options and disable the forum jump.
