Last months I was thinking what will be the best way to upgrade to mybb 1.4. I thought there are 3 ways.

1. start with a fresh 1.4 and import old database
2. copy the totaly forum as I am running now, upgrade and start building
3. make the upgrade as what will be told in the instructions

Ofcourse I know it will be important to make a copy of all files and databases.
But I think it will be give lots of problems.
I use in my running forum:
- 5 themes
- 7 languages
- 15 mods (with and without database uses)

What will happen with them when I upgrade.
I know not all old mods are back or will come back, the problem with that is that some mods make postmodifications, when this mod is not there this will give errors??
Example I use the youtube code mod, what means people can add by code a video. When this mod is not there this mean a whole topic with errors.

So I think I will use my 2nd method copy the totaly forum as I am running now, upgrade and start building it. Perhaps it will take longer but on this way I can bring it up to the www when I think its ready.
My people like my forum as it is now, when I do the upgrade on my running forum I think people will leave because it is not the forum as it was.
Ofcourse I hope that this is possible with mybb 1.4
