iv sorted everything since the upgrade and all is running well now, any ideas whats going on? there no URL change so i dont understand the bookmark problem either?

Are you using a custom theme from MyBB 1.2 that you didn't manually update to work with 1.4? If so, then that's probably the issue. Download any 1.4 theme from the forum and try it out on your forum and see if it works. If it does, then it means your old theme is not 1.4 compatible..So you'll have to adjust it or use a new one.
