Ok, I can install the software fine, no problems there, but it's when I upload my backup where problems start... I currently get this message when trying to view the forums...

MySQL error: 1146
Table 'gb3admin_forums.mybb_forumsdatacache' doesn't exist
Query: SELECT title,cache FROM mybb_forumsdatacache

Any help?? I've tried a few different backups from various times and they all have the same effect... even happened when I reinstalled MyBB 1.2.14, installation went fine, but the backups screwed it up.

Please deactivate or remove any plugins that are not compatible with MyBB 1.4

There aren't any... I removed all files from the server, completely wiped it clean, and when I uploaded 1.4 and 1.2.14 before my backup, there weren't any in the list... it's my backup that's making it bad but I dunno why.

You're saying that you uploaded a database from 1.2.14 in 1.4 without upgrading?

I did upgrade... what order should I do it in?? Upload 1.4, upload backup, and then run the upgrader?? Coz I did that and it didn't work.
