You can remove the icons from the User-CP by editing the usercp.css in your theme settings.
It is quite a bit of work to completely remove the post icons. You have to remove the icon menu from all templates where the editor is used. In the template newthread for example search and remove:
{$posticons}
Search for:
</form>
Before add:
<input type="hidden" name="icon" value="-1" />
After that you have to remove the icon column in the thread list from the templates, too.
Hmm if it's too much work then I simply won't bother ... maybe I'll introduce some decent post icons haha
How about changing the User CP nav images?
