I've proceeded with the installation as normal, and when I get to check if the files/directories are writable, avatars is always not writable. I ch'mod it to 666, it automatically returns to 766.. Why does it revert to 766?

Its not MyBB. Its either you or your server. Try 777.

:s I set to 777. My ftp says its 777. Its works for everyone else when its 777. My guess is... ya Try a great host like http://www.mybbhosting.com/ or http://www.mybbfree.com/ and link to it instead.

Nah. They don't have enough space for my needs, and it's a site and forum too. *will commit suicide if it doesn't work after he does it again*

www.mybbhosting.com give 2GB of webspace on the free account. If that's not enough let me know. I'm going to start adding custom plans, so if you send me a PM over at http://forum.mybbhosting.com/index.php we can work something out .
