Is it possible that you can add a "top of page" link within the posts?
If a topic has several replies, etc. you either have use your scroll bar to go back to the top of the page or go to the bottom of the page to click on the "top of page" link(Which ever is closer)
Just an idea..seen some forum programs that do have this!
