There is a conflict, because the actual URL is the old one, the new one just links to it. Your board cannot have 2 URL's at the same time.
It's going to always have two URLS, files.blah is for the root of my server, forum.blah just redirects to /mybb/.
Technically one could access the forum through files.blah if they knew the exact url.
Revert your cookie settings to the way it was for your old URL, then have the 'forum.' subdomain link to the old URL without replacing it, or have it link to another file that will redirect you to the old URL.
There is absolutely NO way to set it to use my subdomain?

Edit: Take a look at these forums, maybe ask a staff member how they did it. I've never really worked with MyBB and subdomains before.
