Just some ideas for future upgrades/improvements

RSS:
-----
- make it possible to choose whether the RSS-feed sends also some 200chars of the post as well as just the title

SEARCH:
--------
- make phrase-searches possible

CALENDAR:
-----------
- allow for repeating events and/or multi-day events
- create more data-points for events (location, price, duration, content, URL, main contact email etc.)

PORTAL:
--------
- make a radiobutton-type change possible between the choice of a 'landingpage' (index.php/portal.php)

It's unlikely any additions to the calendar will be made in 1.8. You can use full text search, it's a setting in the ACP.
