When viewing my profile or someone else's profile, it says unknown location where it should say which forum they're viewing

This is a known bug in MyBB 1.4. It will be fixed in the upcoming release, MyBB 1.4.1.

Don't change any code, just download this file and replace the inc/functions_online.php on your site:

It doesn't matter, the file I linked to will overwrite the file you edited.

Yeah, I tried that and it worked! It also solved my other problem. (I suspected it would be linked somehow)
