ok a quick problem here..

I CHMODed my avatar directory. But when I'm there at the "Requirement Check", it says I did not set it writable when I am 100% sure I did..

??

I had the problem, too. Please try to set CHMOD 777, that worked fine.

Make upload and avatar both '777'.

do you leave them as 777?

You need to chmod them into 777, which makes them re-writable. Then just refresh the requirements page to see if it worked.
