yea, im pretty sure everything is supposed to be 777... not exactly sure, and i don't know too much about linux.

Well, if you're on unix, I would have left all those other folders alone (with the chmodd'ing) as mybb doesn't need the majority of the files and folders to be chmodded to another specification.
What you do is just make the uploads folder 777 ...then the uploads/avatars folder 777 (you don't have to chmod any of its files. Then chmod inc/config.php and inc/settings.php files to 777. Those are the only ones I know of that need permissions to be changed. Then go back to your installation window and just refresh that page.

Good I CHMODed the Uploads foilder to 777 and it works now. I left settings.php and config to 666
