I think I've seen a MyBB forum having a portal or homepage looking like the vBulletin portal/homepage. Just like http://www.gamerzplanet.net/index.php. Does someone have any idea how I may set this?

It's just a major template change, have a look in the Mods section.

That site is using VBAdvanced, its a type of portal system - http://vbadvanced.com/

VBAdvanced offers 2 different types of portals, one free and one paid version. Its pretty cool, but it does have a learning curve.
