How would I get my "Latest Threads" to also show up on someone elses forum? (say in a sidebar).

Using the RSS Feeds seemed to be the best choice.

Thats what I thought but how can I get it to appear like on the portal?
I'm guessing this would need a new plugin, a mix of sidebox and RSS to post, to be done.

Nope, it'll need a plugin, or some sort of script/php file.
you do need some extra coding, either using the RSS feeds or if the other site can connect to your mysql db it can fetch the data straight from there.
however the RSS feeds is more secure
