Hi there,

I moved my forum to a new server, then updated from version 1.2 to 1.2.14 and then to the current version 1.4.1 of myBB. It's an intern forum, so I cannot give you a direct link.

Almost all posts there are written in german, and now that I updated to the new version, myBB shows wrong symbols for certain german letters. I thought that I had damaged the posts when I moved everything to the new server, but when I look up the posts inside phpmyadmin, all the letters are correct. Something seems to be wrong with myBB.

The german umlaut marks "ä,ö,ü" and even multiple spaces are displayed incorrectly.

I have uploaded an image showing the errors.



How do I solve this mess?

My guess would be the german language pack you have isn't compatible with 1.4.x

Updating or changing the language does not solve the problem.

Did you get a totally new 1.4 language pack??

Yes.

But the language pack only changes the text of the forum software. The errors shown is data that is taken from the database, but somehow with the wrong encoding.
