this happened by trying to upload a jpeg

Can you attach the JPEG file here? If it rejects it, try sticking it in a ZIP.

Is this on your forum? Can you post the URL to your forum and a test user account?

Have you upgraded to 1.4.2? If so was there a problem in 1.4.1?

Can you try renaming the file to .jpg intead of .jpeg?

Can you upload gif's or png's?
