This is a very important plugin for those that wish to stop proxy users from harrassing them on their site. It's semi-effective. There is no such thing as 100% effective way to stop proxies but this will certainly assist you. The methods are described in the download with more detail. Please do not share these methods with others.

Um...I just used a proxy to go to HackForums and it let me in fine...

Try to register. And as I said...not 100% effective. It's more effective against registration. If I had the same protection on every page it would add too much load. So registration imho is one of the best places to have proxy protection.

Also are you using a web proxy or sock proxy server? Sock proxy servers are much harder to detect or block.

Unblocked.org.

Alright..unblock.org is actually using a proxy server instead. It's a more sophisticated method.

As I said..this is semi-effective. I have had great success overall. Even if you cut proxy use in half that's a good start.

My method prevents HTTP proxies from registering. I will be adding SOCK prevention as soon as I can find a good effective method that's compatible with php and most people's setup.

Normally the good proxy checkers are run from binaries written in perl or C. The php available proxy checkers don't really exist. I was lucky to find one method and actually created the other method myself.

Yeah I started one method but ran into some snags. Detecting proxies is a dirty business.
