Full Version: How to view ISPs by IP addresses?

Hi,

In the 1.2 series looking up a member or guest's IP address also yielded information about their ISP.

How do you enable this again in the 1.4 series? Was it removed from the core features?
It was removed because there really wasn't any use for it in MyBB since you can't use it to ban someone. If you really need to see it, use something like this: http://remote.12dt.com/
Thanks Ryan.

Came in very handy for when you have spammers or whatever trying to evade bans and using proxied IP's. A big time saver. Alot of times i would go to the whosonline and click a IP to check this stuff. Hopefully this is reconsidered. Smile

A big time saver when you can't do anything with it? I'm not understanding.

Lol!

If you really need a "spammer" IP address, surely you can get it from one of their posts, and then use a 3rd party service like Ryan suggests to check them out. Hardly 20 seconds more... Rolleyes
What I do is edit the link so that on one click it does a query to a whois site like arin.net or whatever your favorite site may be. Very easy edit.

Indeed... on the rare occasion I ever needed to check an IP that's what I did.
