And how do I prevent guests from browsing the forum

thats a silly thing to do btw... most guests like to do a try before you sign up thing to see if they wanna be a member of a forum,

i'd like to know how to ban a member from a board completely though....

like msghelp does,.. when your banned you cant view anything, it just says the you don't have privaledges message?,. i can't work out how to do that

not necessarily, this is a closed board, a spinoff of a much larger board which is very restricted in membership.

Go to the Admin CP --> Manage Groups --> Unregistered / Not Logged In and make "Can View Board" as "No"
