Is there a gravatars plugin available? I've searched around, including this forum, and haven't found anything.
Umm why? There is already an avatar system built in.

It was made for bloggers. I never got it either it always made mad that there wasn't a better system for wordpress and avatars.

Why? Because it's universal. Why make people create a new avatar when they already have a gravatar? Every blog and board has an avatar system and all of them require a user to go through the same setup process again.
Yes because it's so hard to copy and link to an image or find it on their hard drive.
Wouldn't something like this have to be created by the Gravator folks. Why not let them upload their avatars through their User CP. Or maybe teach Members how to register and use such places like Photobucket or Imageshack?

You can use Gravatar as an avatar host
And you seem to be forgetting those who block Photobucket and Imageshack because of the masses of rubbish hosted there.
