how can i get mybb 1.4 and not 1.4.2 bcuz none of the themes or plugins work with 1.4.2 for me
Well they should do, 1.4 is 1.4, they should work for all 1.4 releases. And you won't be able to downgrade without reverting to an earlier backup anyway.

when i install a theme or something it says its for a different version and i ignore it and the theme on my forum doesn't look the same as the way the pics do
Some themes are like that, the AFresh themes require you to ignore version compatibility, even the standard MyBB theme xml file does. How doesn't it look the same??
I use advanced quick reply fine with 1.4.2.
