Can someone please define "Spam" in terms of akismet.

Even my moderators are being auto-banned by this plugin for nothing as far as I can see.

Is it supposed to randomly ban? Or what does it detect and categorise as spam?

You can adjust which groups are affected by akismet. You can also change which forums. People may be posting too many links, or have too small of posts.

Nobody knows exactly how Akismet works or spammers would get around it, rendering it useless. All I know is that it is a very complex algorithm that detects what it thinks is spam. But yeah, telling it to ignore specific groups or users would probably help curb it.

The Akismet algorithm is hosted at www.akismet.com and they haven't released the algorithm for the reasons Matt_ mentioned.
