I just tried the "SVN Snapshot" but it seems like it won't let me merge MyBB 1.2.x forums :/
Is this ok? Do I have to update from 1.2.x to 1.4.x before merging?
You don't download the SVN snapshot if you're on 1.2, you download 1.0 RC3

No, it won't. The 1.0 Version of the Merge System is for 1.2, the 1.4 version is for 1.4. The 1.6 version will be for 1.6 etc etc.
