I have switched everything off for the portal yet still the forum stats and online users still show's. I have tried the fix of removing the typo in portal.php yet it still shows both items. Any help please?

You could delete them in the template.

Its in the

->Portal Templates
->portal

just delete
$stats
$whosonline
