Hello,

On the "features" page for mybb says that only needs to add the .htaccess file to get friendly URL...anything else need to be done to optimize for search engines?

How does this compare to, say, SEO Board?

Tim
SEO is slightly overrated IMHO, especially for message boards. Google still processes dynamic URLs just as easily as "friendly" ones. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, it might even skip crawling sites which are "over friendly" - I read it somewhere but can't find the source...

Anyway, myBB's .htaccess is literally all it takes to make it friendly for search engines - it takes care of everything except Meta tags, obviously. It's actually better than SEO Board in terms of URL generation (for example, myBB profile page is domain/user-2.html, whereas SEO is a dynamic URL).

Just give it a go really...
Hello,

I noticed that you had posted originally on another forum how to make one login work across multiple domains. I am trying to go through it and understand what I need to do. I don't think it's just the cookies. I think it is how a user is registered into some "master" table which all authentication then looks up....that seems to be how you are suggesting it, but was wondering if you could provide a little more guidance? Thanks.
There are some other things you can do to help improve the SEO but it's nothing major. For instance the links to home page are all index.php but really should be root directory instead.

http://www.domain.com/
vs
http://www.domain.com/index.php

You want root because that will help create a better pagerank as Google does recognize these as two distinct urls.
