I just got my aluminum MacBook in the mail today, and it has a dead pixel.

Normally I would call and complain furiously, but this was basically a courtesy to me. They replaced a 14 month old notebook that was out of warranty with this. Still, I sent an e-mail to my rep and we'll see what happens.

Upon closer inspection, I think it's a speck of dust behind the glass, not a dead pixel.

I suggest Lenovo because they are ridiculously well built. My old T30 has been dropped, banged, battered and even thrown but I'm still using it.

The dust probably got in as it was being assembled.

I'm not looking for a new computer, the new MacBook is great.

Were did you buy it from? as it sounds like its not a good store.
