How can I change the way things look in the portal?

If you go to Admin CP >> Templates >> Modify/Delete >> *Template Name* Expand >> Portal Templates Expand >> portal Change Original
You will see and be able to edit the HTML that makes up your portal.php page. You will notice things like
$welcome
$pms
$search
$stats
$whosonline
$latestthreads
$announcements
etc.
Which you can move around and customize to your liking.
