i was thinking we don't need syntax highlighting as such but just a code identifier
PHP only supports syntax highlighting for PHP code.
For other languages, you'd need to write a custom parser (which, mind you, is rather slow to do in PHP), so this definitely can't be included as a core feature of MyBB.

I guess you mean this version:

But that version is made for mybb 1.2.
I tried installing it on mybb 1.4, but it doesnt seem to do line numbers and indenting properly...
