Hi.. I am hoping someone can help me. I've installed mybb on my website
http://sweetcherrie.com/board/ however I cannot make any changes because I can't stay logged in to the admin panel. I figure this is an issue with cookies, but I can't change the cookie settings because whenever I try to make changes, it asks me to re-login and then I'm back at square one; the changes won't save.
And yes, I searched for this problem and edited settings.php and now I have this error;
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /home/sweetche/public_html/board/inc/settings.php on line 1
I have no idea how to fix this.. any ideas?

http://community.kh3.us always logs me out of the admin panel!
The first time I forgot the ending slash in the cookies setting, and I tried what scdotcom did. It didn't work. I did a re-install and this time I used /community/ for my cookie path. It still doesn't work!
An observation: During the second installation I was asked to delete the lock file, while I wasn't the first time I installed it. Also, at the last step the normal screen didn't show up, just a line of text saying "Finishing Up..."
Help please!

Please try clearing your cookies in your browser.
I have the same problem, and tried to clear my browser cache aswell, but it doesn't work
I found the problem. Since I was logging in from
http://community.kh3.us/
and my cookie URL should have been ".kh3.us" instead of ".community.kh3.us"
Then I set my cookie path to "/"
BTW, we are now open for registrations!
Make sure you make those changes in the ACP too.

I've change on my setting file with the cookie URL .vietqueer.net - and on ACP, but it won't change to what I wanted, after clicking on the save button.
Change your cookie domain to .lezgirl.vietqueer.net in ./inc/settings.php and then again in the ACP.
