For some reason all the emails from my board are delayed by around 2 hours.
Any idea on speeding it up? The mass mail runs every minute and its still delayed.

The task runs whenever someone visits the forum - is your forum active enough for it to run every minute? This is MyBB's way of getting around explaining cron jobs...
Plus, it might not be MyBB's fault there is a delay - I'd contact your host too to see if there is a limit on the amount you can send, or the restrictions placed on your server.

Private message notifications, thread subscriptions etc.
PM notifications are instant, they're not queued. If someone sends you a PM, a notification is sent to you immediately. If it isn't you should question your webhost to see if they have any restrictions on PHP mail.
