Depends on what FTP you're using but in general you juse need the following information:

Server or URL (i.e., www.google.com)
Username
Password

The username and password would be your FTP username and pass. If you don't know what it is whoever is hosting the site for you can tell you. I'm using Flash FXP right now and really like it but it's not free.

If you want to go the free route Filezilla is a free FTP and pretty easy to use as well.

once you upload all files the image directory is the images folder

FTP browser can help you, which can be like ftp://ftp.yoursite.com (wont work on firefox). if you dont like it, try www.smartftp.com
