Hmm, doesn't work for me either.
Sorry... I should have explained when I posted...
The Re: is inbuilt into the database - if you take a look at the posts table, you'll see the subject has Re: hard coded into it.
By making the change in the datahandler, it will stop Re: from being put into any future posts.
I don't want to even attempt to write a mySQL query to remove the Re: from the existing posts... not 100% sure it's possible without copying and pasting into word editor - find/replace - past back...

Not really worth creating a language variable - it is automatically generated in newreply.php in the subject field (assumed wrongly that you'd already taken that out) - RE: is the internationally recognised abb. for reply...
