When we were using mybb 1.2 , any broken image code would not show on the board. This looked a lot better.

With this new 1.4.3, the bad broken img code shows.


What can i do to hide it again like in 1.2 ?

From what I see, the bracket wasn't finished being put in for it, when that image was trying to be placed in. You have to complete the image bracket, for it to appear. and to prevent image code errors. I never had this type of problem since I had 1.4.3, but that seems like the most logical way to solve your problem. By completing the bracket for the image tag.

Try using [img] instead of [image], and see what happens. It looks incomplete.

I think you'll find that is your browser doing that. You're using Firefox? It's called alternative text, and is displayed when the image fails.

Strange, I've been using Firefox for a long time, and this particular error never happened to me before. But you're right. It could be a browser issue.

It's not an issue - well maybe from the OP's point of view it is. It's actually quite useful if done correctly.

All images in the posts do use the [img] tags.
That broken code you see there is only a very small part of the string its coming from. 1.4.3 does not show it all when its broke.

I do use FF.. but IE is the same, its not a browser issue.

so, as i said.. it's not a browser issue.
This all worked before on the mybb 1.2 board for eveyone.. all browsers. Only this new 1.4.3 is doing this.

When you have 100 pics in a post doing this, its nice when the bad ones don't leave behind broken code.
All the good images are together nice and tight and the bad ones are just as if they are not their... hehe

Sometimes just a refresh makes the image appear, it doesn't always load first time round. Different browsers show broken images in differen ways, IE has a red X, Opera has a ? mark, Chrome has a little symbol with colours on it and FF shows that. It's just that the browser can't load that image at that point so shows it's version of a broken image. So the code itself is fine.

Yes Matt.. the pics that do that are dead.. that pic is no longer available.
What i want is to fix this so it does not show part of the dead code like that in browsers.

Maybe you did not understand me, but as i said.. on 1.2 this dead code did not show.. on any browser.. ever!
No X or ? ..nothing. The pic's were nice and tight because 1.2 board soft hid it from showing in the post.

1.4.3 shows it as you an see.

Nothing has changed for me and my members, our browsers are all still the same as when we used 1.2 just days ago.

Not sure how 1.2 worked.. but it hid the dead code with browsers.. 1.4.3 does not.

Can you please help us with this? What did 1.2 do different handling this dead code?

I did a test on my forum, and found out the issue. All images appeared, except for just that one. So, what I did, was get the URL, from the one that appeared broken, and test it in all browsers, off the forum.

It gives the following message

"This image does not exist on this server"

If you don't believe me, then take a look at the link yourself that I removed the [img] tags from. So I could see the link myself.

This error, is stated that it's no longer on the server. This is a typical thing. If you need further proof, I did the same on my forum as well.

I know the image is gone.. thats what i said.
We have lots of post's like this on the board where the image is gone.

I don't care about that, we can not fix 1000's of broken images all over the board.
what i do care about is the board not displaying the broken code when the image is gone.

Just as mybb 1.2 did with all our browsers. When an image was dead.. it did not leave that code leftover.

That is the only help i am looking for.. my only concern.
