Why?
The aim is to provide scripts and software. The look of the site has nothing to do with it.

If you want people to take you seriously, you can't just throw the default theme up.

Looks like you have a good site going on there. You must remember the 5 second rule (no, not the drop a cracker and pick it up before 5 seconds). Have a friend who doesn't know about your site to visit it and figure out what you offer within 5 seconds. Your banner is great, describes it down to the point but without reading anything but the banner, I'd think it's a forum to describe great softwares. Maybe a homepage or something that has a short paragraph describing what you offer. I just finished a software site for a client recently, take a look: http://sabasoft.org/

By just reading the first 3 words which shouldn't take longer than a couple of seconds, you'll know exactly what they're offering.

I think if you can get that rule going through your site, you'll definitely get more subscribers.
