I am trying to install Game Section 1.2 RC1, but i have no idea where to upload the files to.
Can somebody please give me some help.

Regardless, only install RC (Release Candidate) on test boards. You shouldn't really be testing these things out on live boards...
I know you haven't mentioned this, but just to me sure!
the read me just says "INSTALATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE GAME SECTION
1. UPLOAD THE FILES TO YOUR MYBB FORUM
2. ACTIVATE THE PLUGIN"
So the files in the game section file have to go into the corresponding files on my server?

Plus the plugin name has 1.2 in it. If you're running 1.4, this plugin won't work.
Game Section 1.2 is the one for MyBB 1.4 - it's just the version number of the plugin.
Just upload the content of the file into the relevant folders. For example, the files in the folder ./inc/ will go into the folder called ./inc/ for your forum.
Either way, this is not the place to ask this question really...

I have installed the plugin and have gone through the settings. I can't seem to find a link on my actual forum to find the game section. Am I doing something wrong? (again)

Not all plugins add a link. There should have been a file added to the root of your forums, i.e. not in any folders like ./inc/ or anything, if you go to that in your browser, you should see it.
So I need to edit the actual code of my theme to manually add the link?
Yeah, if you open your header template, you can see the current toplinks, see how they're set out, copy one of them, and edit it to suit your needs.
