It is very good for the Indexing, more big forum live this use this mod!
and, what are the results? how much does hit count get increased?
There is only so much you can do in a SEO plugin... if your forum doesn't have quality content or active userbase to offer it won't land you many hits with Google no matter how search engine friendly it is technology wise. So don't expect too much from it.
For me, SEO is something that helps Google index new content quickly, as opposed to after several days of pointless crawling the site. SEO is also something that makes sure results show up with proper titles and description in Google. What's even more important than SEO is that your users are comfortable while browsing your site.
I tried the MyBB SEO plugin (I believe it's aka Spicefuse SEO?). It doesn't work for my forum (UTF-8 CJK characters in titles mess it up), I don't like how it does some things in general, and its license unfortunately forbids making any changes to the code. Then again I also don't like the stock MyBB SEO, as it creates multiple names for the same thing.
From my point of view, your best choice at the moment is to stick with stock MyBB URLs (no SEO at all) and let Google figure out the parameters.

Great, I had plans to do this project, but no one helped.
It would be more good if plugin would have some options to set URL structure, like vbseo give the option to users.

First release is coming with some customization ... but next release will be full featured ... and next release will not be in years.... in a month or so
