I don't think people should put advertisments on their boards. Especially, boards running on MyBB. Is $10 a month for web hosting alot and do you really need the cash on a free licensed board? I don't get it, why would you need the extra cash for and Google ads don't give you that much anyhow.

True, but do you really think that Google will help with your hosting bills? Well, I don't have to worry about hosting bills because I have my own server.
But, I have seen more spyware free ways to make money such as creating your own search bar at
http://www.yoursitebar.com/ and you will get 25 cents per install. So, if your site gets alot of hits, then that may help you with hosting bills.
Google Ads usually cause spyware, thats what I'm trying to get through. It's not doing anyone any good because alot of people don't click on Google ads and there just so annoying.
I agree, especially when services such as
http://www.mybbhosting.com/ offer free mybb hosting, with only a ad line in the copyright (last time I checked, might be different now)

http://mybbhosting.com may be great for people who just want a forum, but sometimes people want to have their independence and their own server. Unless, a person already has a site and doesn't mind having their forum from an outside server.
Then again $10 hosting is not going to work for everyone. Some people need dedicated servers and they don't come cheap and every bit you can get back from your site/forums helps.

On a small site ads are pretty worthless however on a large site where hosting costs can be high things like google ads can really pay off with all the activity on the site. I would imagine a site such as neowin would make quite a large sum from the google ads.
True, but most people don't click them, unless you have clickstor ads which gives you money if you click anywhere on the page.
