Is there any patch .zip file or I should upload the whol v1.4.4. pack .zip file? then just running upate file would fine to update my db from 1.4.1 to 1.4.4?

Yes, you'll need to download the entire 1.4.4 package from here, upload everything apart from ./inc/config.php and ./inc/settings.php and then run the upgrade script, choosing 1.4.1 from the list.

I upgraded and wanted to test the emailing. I know how to mass email, but how can I send an email to an individual user from admin panel?

I guess you can just put their entire name in the 'Username contains...' field.
