My old, large xsorbit board is down again. Would like to convert to myBB.
I note thread from more than a year ago asking about what need converters for but no other discussion of xsorbit in searching.
Any hope to convert xsorbit latest version, assuming it comes back up - sadly I don't have a backup.
Thanks.
xsorbit isn't currently supported by the merge system (I've never even heard of it). You may have to go via another forum software, i.e. convert to something else, then to us.
Yeah. I've never heard of it, either..
xsorbit has thousands of forums, including some Fortune 500 companies they claim but they host the forms on sub domains for you so different than hosting on your own server - which is the frustration since they have had outages on some servers usually over the weekends.
VB's converter program converts xsorbit and before I started researching was going to go with VB. It has what I miss in my IP board and I also have a large Delphia forum started like 10 yrs ago and has never been down.
Someone suggested I look at mybb again - last time I compared boards was a few years ago. The more I read the more I am convinced to try myBB.
Will do more research on other conversion options from xsorbit - worst case may be to get a 1 yr lic of vb convert to vb and I assume can then convert to mybb from vb. But hope to avoid that step!
Looks like some have converted xsorbit to simple and then can convert I assume to mybb.

Sounds like that would work. :]

I don't see why not. As long as the first convert works, the second should. You'd probably need to convert from xsorbit->MyBB 1.2>MyBB1.4.4
No.. I think it's:
xsorbit --> SMF 1.1 (cause that's what the merge uses - not sure what version SMF is up to) --> MyBB 1.2.x --> MyBB 1.4.x
=P

Sounds like more work..
I don't know about the SMF converter but the MyBB one is very easy in my experience.
Just be sure to make and have a few backups of your database. Just in case anything goes wrong.

Yeah, same here. Never had a problem with it before
