it would be cool if some one could develop something like stars for years of membership... basically for each year you get one star or for two months or whatever the set variable a star is displayed in the users profile and view topic areas. ( im sorry if its not called view topic in mybb i just converted from phpbb)

You can do this using Promotions.

errmm ok i found promotions but how exactly would i give a star ?

Use it to upgrade usergroups after a certain date, with the additional star being added to the new usergroup.
