I want to keep support and billing matters separate from each end user, but be able to at the same time oversee the whole operation at once. Sure they make software for this. But they are using the forums anyways, you can subscribe to threads and get emails when someone replies, you can close topics like you would a support ticket, and you can search and review your history.

Seems like a good idea to me.

You would need the ability to designate a particular forum for support purposes.

You would also need the ability to auto subscribe posts in that category, so that the author and the staff gets notified when there is a new post.
I was interested in something similar, it was in my plans but i don't know when i'll start
