You can't change the color of it, because it's not even a box; it's just a <hr /> the content, and then another <hr />.
What about putting a span tag around the variable in the templates?? That might work.

That would work. Or a div, either one would be sufficient. You might be able to help better, Matt - I don't know what template they'd need to edit.
