i'm currently run php 4.2x something, and i wanted to switch to php5.
will it break my forum?

Not sure how you're using 4.2 as it says here it needs 4.3.11 or higher... it will definitely work on 5, I'd have though most people use 5, but as for upgrading from 4 to 5, not really sure. I can't image anything would break, but make backups just to be safe.
ok thanks, do you know if this is something i do myself, or do i need to call my hosting?
If you host your website on someone else's server, then discuss it with your host. They will probably have to do the upgrading for you.
