Oh, that's a template in Admin CP > Templates & Styles > Templates > Show Thread Templates. Not sure which one it is in there..
This is the variable that sets the margin-top style {$post_extra_style}. You need to look at the postbit or postbit classic depending on the one you are using. I am not sure if removing it would be bad, but that is what sets the margin-top amount.

Removing the {$post_extra_style} will remove the extra space. I don't know what other items get populated in that variable depending on the situation. To get to it you Templates & Style>Templates>Default Templates(Your templates)>Post Bit Templates>postbit or postbit_classic.
