I have just installed MyBB 1.4.4 and have come across a slight snag,
I cant view Member profiles or forums because files like "user-1.html" and "forum-4" apparently don't exist

This isn't a bug, moved to support.

You've enabled the MyBB SEF URLs and either you didn't rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess first, or your host doesn't support mod_rewrite.
