Basically been trying to figure it out for bout 2 hours... Anyone got a guide or a simple explanation to go upon doing it?

By forum markers, do you mean the on/off/offlock images showing if there's new posts or not. Just replace ./images/on.gif, ./images/off.gif, and ./images/offlock.gif, with what you want and they'll change, as long as they have the same name and file extension.
