When one of my members uses his forum he sometimes gets told that he is not allowed to view sections of the forum and it asks him to reactivate his account or tells him he may be banned but if he signs out and back in it goes away.

This has only happened to one user so i haven't configured the forum permissions wrongly

Check the permissions and advanced permissions (Edit Permissions/Set Permisisons) for the usergroup in the effected forum.

It isn't down to any particular forum/section,it randomly happens. Should he resend the activation link ?

What, so sometimes they can access one forum, and then they just can't?? Same user, same forum?? Not exactly sure what sending the activation link would achieve as that only really moved them from the awaiting activation group to the registered group when they register. It says that in the error as it's just a generic error that shows no matter what the situation is.
